Part 1: #30daysofbeauty

For the month of April I decided to participate in the 30 Days of Beauty Challenge on Instagram to encourage myself to post more interesting pictures.  I wanted to share them on here too, so I’m going to post them in a few different parts.  I’ve been able to stay on track so far, which isn’t saying much since it’s only been five days, but I’m hoping my streak will continue.  There are some that I still have no idea of what I’m going to post (favorite body product?), but I will do my best.  Check out my first five pictures below.

Day 1: favorite lipstick

This is one of the first lipsticks I ever purchased for myself.  I didn’t know much about make up at the time but I had done some research on the internet and I was pretty sure a coral would look fabulous on me.  I went to the store without much knowledge of brands or quality and settled on this L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in Tropical Coral.  I’m pretty sure I only chose it because it had coral in the name but it worked out well because the shade brings out the rosey undertones of my skin perfectly.  It always seems to give me a skin a great glow.  I wear this lipstick at least once a week and it is my go to when I don’t know which shade to go for because it seems to match everything perfectly.

I keep all of my everyday makeup products up on top of my vanity for easy access.  I have everything I could need to do a basic face starting with primer, foundation, and concealer, and finishing with brows, mascara, and lipgloss.  I also have some of my most used brushes.  I am also in the market for an acrylic set of drawers that I could possibly set this on top of to house my ever growing lip collection.  I would like to have it out where I can see all the pretty colors and be more likely to use them.

Day 3: nails

Nails are not my thing.  The only time I usually have them painted is if I’ve recently gotten them professionally done, and that happens maybe every two years or so.  Every time I attempt to do them myself, I end up smudging them on every possible surface before they’re dry and just getting really angry and scrubbing it off.  That being said, I wasn’t going to give up on my goal of completing this whole challenge on only the third day.  So I painted my fingernails exclusively for this picture.  They did turn out much better than I was expecting, though, and it has given me new hope that this might be a skill I can improve on in the future.

Day 4: hairstyle

Oh man.  Hairstyle.  I have not had a hairstyle since I decided I was going to grow out my bangs, and my hair, a little over a year ago.  I loved my bangs but I had had them for a while and I wanted something different.  At first I blamed my lack of hairstyle on the awkwardness of growing out your bangs but now they are well past my chin and I really should figure out what the hell I’m doing.  Hair has never been a strong point of mine and I have yet to find a way to properly manage my curls.  I’m getting it cut this month and I would like to do something drastic, but I’m just not sure what.  Any ideas?

Day 5: day make up look.

This is a normal look that I would wear to work or out for errands if I was off that day.  It doesn’t take too long because it only uses the basics, but it looks clean and put together.  I usually keep it neutral around the eyes because it takes me a while to plan out which shades I want to blend if I decide to use more color.  Since the eyes are colorless, I usually try to pick something bright and fun for this lip, like the NYX butter gloss in Cherry Pie here.

Stay tuned for the next installment of my 30 Days of Beauty Challenge.  I will do my best to stay caught up this week.  I’m pretty proud of myself for how well I’ve done so far!  Follow me on instagram to check out these and pictures like them on a daily basis!

    • Thank you! I love them but I’m still struggling to find the best way to cut them. They never seem to want to cooperate. But I will keep trying to figure it out!

      • Yeah, I have heard it can be hard to find the right stylist for curls. I have fine, thick and straight hair. It works in my favor most of the time, but I am trying to find the right cut that gives me some lift and not too many choppy layers.
